I had a lot of fun making this jacket. I don't do dusters often bc generally the size of the textile dictates how big the piece can be but this was a nice big quilt! I was excited to find this colorway too, it's kind of a unicorn.
This quilt does have a batting but it's a very thin cotton batting. This is a lightweight, spring or fall duster. It's got handwarmer style pockets, big enough for all your adventure rock and pinecones. I added 10" side slits for fun range of motion and a cozy hood w a bamboo drawstring and hand painted beads. The lining of the jacket is the most buttery soft yellow cotton, you have to feel it to appreciate it fully. There are a few small areas of visible mending, please note the photos.
This coat would likely best fit someone who generally wears up to a large, depending on how you like the fit of your coat.
Measurements,
Pit to pit, 23”
length, 40"
Sleeves, 25"
Vintage textiles should always be washed in cold water and lay flat to dry.
I always include full measurements for each garment and people will frequently ask me what the best way to measure themselves is and this is my advice: I always recommend measuring something similar that you have and love the fit of! Measuring your body just tells you your actual measurements but it doesn't take into account what level of ease you like in a garment. I prefer my clothes sit a little loose with lots of ease. For measuring your garment, lay it flat (if it has an opening, make sure it's fully closed) and measure across armpit to armpit, then from the shoulder to the bottom hem for the length and then the shoulder seam to the wrist for the sleeve length.
